LAND SURVEYING MANAGER

OVERVIEW:
Regional firm has a manager opening in its Land Surveying Division.  Qualified candidates shall be Licensed Land Surveyors who are capable of engaging in a variety of land surveying projects while planning, coordinating, and resolving legal and other problems related to project surveying.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Lead a staff engaged in the review of survey records, monument records, parcel maps and final maps filed with Town, County, and State; review work for accuracy and conformity to accepted land surveying practices and other legal requirements.  Analyze land, cadastral, geodetic surveys, and right of way engineering.  Prepare and process control and geodetic field survey data; assist in the development and maintenance of a surveying database.  Review surveying work for conformity to planning regulations and accepted Land Surveying practices; certify that all conditions of approval and other legal requirements have been met.

Confer with clients, representatives of various governmental agencies, private engineers, surveyors, title insurance entities, and land developers on matters affecting mapping, land boundary determinations, legal access, real property rights, and perpetuation of survey monuments.

Develop, prepare and review legal documents for content accuracy, completeness and conveyance of real property interests.  Write legal descriptions; establish proof of access; review offers of dedication.  Assist in the development of training programs; instructs personnel in surveying and mapping techniques.  Sign and seal all documents in accordance with state law.

SKILLS / REQUIREMENTS:
Physical: Occasional walking, standing, bending, and squatting; requires fine manipulation in both hands.  Continuously reaches above and below the shoulder level.  Occasionally works near equipment and machinery on rough, uneven, rocky, or slippery surfaces.  Occasionally exposed to dust, gas, construction materials, noise, and extremes in temperature and humidity.  A valid Connecticut driver’s license (or other US) is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance.
